We stopped by a place called Ston after the waterfalls.
The city itself was small and charming. There were small children and teenage kids hanging about. The city had a good vibe of community about it. The remarkable thing about Ston is the wall around it. It is know as the Great Wall of Europe. It was surprisingly impressive.
We wondered why the city would go through such lengths to build a wall. Some of the wall goes straight up the mountain. Apparently salt was quite a commodity back in the day and the wall protected the salt of the city.
It is hard to see, but the wall goes straight up the mountain in some parts.
They have a marathon here.
I will not be signing up.
