My notion of Austria is that it is very mountainous - something like this:
It is located here.
Its population is a little greater than New York City.
Originally, we were supposed to fly from D.C. to Montreal to Germany to Sarajevo. A few hours before I flew to D.C., Steve, a guy coming with us, e-mailed out to say that he noticed that a few legs of our flight were cancelled. Turns out there was a strike in Germany, so we ended up getting rerouted through Austria via Austrian airlines. Having already been to Canada and Germany, I was happy about this.
Other than that I have no idea what Austria is like. As we flew into Vienna, it was cloudy and very lush. We flew over lots of farm land - to my surprise.

(Farm land through the window at the airport.)
Hold this thought - the Arch Duke Ferdinand was from Austria. This will be relevant later.
